Great Opportunities in 2010!

This year your Northern California Surveyors Apprenticeship is excited to offer you a number of Skills Enhancement Courses designed to enrich your apprenticeship training program.

At a time when employment is at a premium, we want to offer our students every advantage to stay competitive in the labor market. While these classes are not mandatory, we recommend that you take this opportunity to work with a variety of experts in the field of surveying and take your skills to the next level-classes are free, and all related curriculum and tools are included!



NOTE: Northern California Surveyors Joint Apprenticeship Committee (NCSJAC) classes are just for NCSJAC students who are members of Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 or for Local 3 members.

Basic Skills/Orientation to Surveying
Although this class is specifically designed for new students, it is open to apprentices and journey upgrades of all levels.
Topics covered: Intro to Field Surveying, Hand Tools, Personal Tools and Equipment; Basic Survey Fundamentals; Intro to E.D.M., Levels and their Uses; Intro to Survey Staking and Comprehensive End of Course review.

Survey Leveling
Join us for this exciting class on survey leveling. Topics include: Differential leveling; types of rods, use and care of rods, auto level, method of differential leveling and plenty of outdoor exercises.

First Aid/CPR
This course satisfies the multi-media first aid certificate requirement for all registered apprentices. Taught by a Licensed First-Aid Professional, this class is free for all who are pre-registered.

Survey Note Keeping
This course is designed to help students acquire skills in preparing and organizing a "professional data report." Students will learn Rinhardt Style Lettering while implementing "The Seven Requirements for Good Notes," promoting conformity with professional record-keeping necessities and standards. Students will learn to properly describe the physical characteristics and the exact location of a monument and its accessories and note each description in professional form, as well as draft a survey sketch that communicates the necessary and appropriate data.

TI 30 Calculator
This one-half day course will cover ll aspects od skills needed to use the TI 30 caluculator with the NCSJAC program curriculum. This cals is a must for any student who would like to increase their calculator knowledge level as it fully applies to course content. All students will receive a complimentary Texas Instruments Calculator.
